 Val McGann ©2011
McGann believes his numerous years as an athlete still continue to help him in the world of painting. "I can stand in front of an easel for eight hours a day and not be tired," said McGann. "If you don't paint quickly and often, you won't survive in the art business."
- Carl Pepin, York County Coast Star
A unique work created in York is titled "The Sea Cave." McGann said he discovered the area while kayaking. His work reflects beauty in life from maturity and experience. Another work by McGann "Moonlight Surf," an oil on canvas which features a sweeping surf in the reflection of the moon, is powerful and moving. The artist said he was influenced by Winslow Homer while creating this work. ~ Pat Davidson Reef, special to Encore, Sun Journal

Beach Buns © Val McGann
Val McGann's still life in apples and pears have received international acclaim. He lends a touch of humor to his rendering of pears and apples, placing them out of context on a beach in the style evocative of Magritte or Dali.
Val McGann is a true renaissance man. In addition to being a former world class athlete and self taught violinist, he is a prolific artist and a huge supporter of the underprivileged. As an artist his work has been exhibited as a one-man show in the House of Representatives in the U.S. Capitol Building and the University Club in Washington, D.C. His luminous seacoast paintings are included in the collections of many prominent Americans. Also very popular with collectors are Mr. McGann's still life paintings of apples and pears. ~ Connie Hall, Concierge's Image
